La Diabla!

After coming back from the river, Olivia had a temporary change of personality. She might have been possessed by an evil force we have come to call "La Diabla". First it was directed toward Mamma in the pool. Then Brian couldn't come near her or look at her without her head spinning around, then she lashed out at me. After some stern talkings and some skilled parenting I think we have exorcised the demon.

Brian picked Olivia up from school on Friday and Ms. Annette (or Ms. Aneck as Oli says) told him that because she has been dry every day she can start coming in panties if we would like. So first thing Saturday morning we went and bought her some real big girl panties. When we got home she put some on right away. The first pair were too big and she didn't like the feeling of them. She kept asking me to fix them then she took them off as she sat in her chair eating her lunch. After nap we tried a different pair and they fit. She wore them all afternoon and into the evening and stayed dry until just before bed! When she did wet on herself it was just a little and she was able to stop herself and finish in the potty! Of course this upset her a lot though and she would not put panties back on, only pull ups. But it's a start!

Weekend at the River

I can't seem to keep up with this Blog thing but I guess something is better than nothing.

We just got back from a weekend with Nana and Papa Ken at Center Point on the Gualdelupe River. We had a great time. Olivia loved the water (of course) and we had a lot of fun playing in the waterfall under the dam. Olivia took her first shot at skipping rocks. She didn't quite get the rocks to skip but she seems to have a good throwing arm AND she is ambidextrous!
Mamma and Papa came Saturday afternoon and we went down to the Biergarten. The bird coops were stinky as ever.

Olivia did great sleeping in a big bed so we will need to start thinking about moving her out of the crib. Boohoohoo, she's not a baby anymore. :(

I'll post some pictures of the weekend later.

Holidays

Christmas-time with a child is such fun! Every morning while the tree was up Olivia walked out into the living room and would gasp, ooh, and ahh at the beauty of the tree. We told her that she was not allowed to touch it and for the most part she followed this rule. As far as I know, she only touched 3 times. Pretty good for a 17month old.
Christmas Eve we went to church with my parents, came home and ate tamales and homemade pinto beans. Afterward we opened a few presents. Olivia loved all of them. She flew her planes around the house until bedtime. Then on Christmas morning we got to play with all they toys that Santa brought. Olivia just loved it! Her face lit up and she ran straight to the tree to play with the toys. She seemed excited about each gift.
In order to make room for all of her toys we cleaned out the office and have made it into a play room.

Christmas Eve

Well, Christmas in upon us and it is so exciting with a child. Every day Olivia stands in awe of the tree. First thing she did today was walk over to it and plug it in, with me running toward her yelling "no, no, don't touch!"
